Post subject: | "This show is being recorded" 8 hours after it has |
I checked my knoppmyth box this morrning. I noticed two programs missing from the "recorded programs" list on mythweb. They should have been recorded last night. I looked at the listing and saw that they wre highlighted and said "this show is currently being recorded" But they should have ended hours ago. I checked the log here, is what I found: Code: 4167 mythfilldatabase 2005-11-17 03:23:40 mythtv Listings Download Started
4166 mythbackend 2005-11-17 03:23:39 mythtv Running mythfilldatabase 4165 mythbackend 2005-11-17 03:23:39 mythtv Last message repeated 288 times Running housekeeping thread 4164 commflag 2005-11-17 00:21:42 mythtv Commercial Flagging Finished Finished Commercial Flagging for "In Search of Myths and Heroes" recorded from channel 1006 at Wed Nov 16 21:00:00 2005. But it never lists the ending events. Has anybody seen this problem before? I didn't have a whole bunch of time to explore it anymore. I ran 'shutdown -r now' to try to get the box into a working state durring the day. But it hung durring the shutdown process and I had to manualy cycle the power to get it back up. So is there a thread that isn't responding or somthing that could be causing this? |

If you are in the Pacific timezone, odds are the system clock is set wrong. The way it is typically set up, the computer clock is set to GMT with a timezone setting making the shift to your actual time. If you set the computer with your localtime and set the timezone as well, the adjustment will put you off by the difference between your timezone and GMT which I believe is 8 hours for the Pacific zone. The easy way to see what time myth thinks it is is to go to Manage Recordings>Schedule Recordings>Program Guide and see if it drops you in at the current time. If you are 8 hours off, you have a clock problem. If you are coming in at the proper time, I'm not sure what would be going on. If it is a clock problem, the easiest way to fix it may be to jump into the bios next time you boot and manually set the time for GTM. |

Thanks for the responding but my problem has nothing to do the the clock. Did you even read my post? Or did you try to guess my problem off my subjectline? The system has been recording shows perfectly for 6-7 weeks. The problem I had two nights ago was two shows started recording and never stopped recording. |

I read your post, or should say misread it. The title put me on the wrong track and I saw info in the log you posted to confirm my assumption that you were getting an hour recording 8 hours late vs. 8 hours of recording. Sorry about that. What you are describing sounds like a database problem. The simple fix would be to try mythfilldatabase to update your data and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't work, you can run a repair on the database and see if that does the trick. If not, you have gone beyond the scope of my expertise. |

Okay I was thinking it could be the database too. I have had mythfrontend and mythweb both freezeup on me before and I am pretty certain that it happened because the database stopped responding. Maybe these shows also never stopped recording because the database stopped responding? I have had to manually run mythfilldatabase before because an entire day's worth of programing was missing. Is there a script to "repair" the database? How about a way to test the integrity of the database? I am an experanced programer but I am pretty new to databases/mysql. |

Hi ryanpatterson, What version are you running, is it a new install, upgrade, what kind of hardware? You haven't given anyone much for information to be able to help resolve your issue. I have been playing (it isn't work when it is enjoyable) for the better part of two years (R4V2?) and have had a hundred different headaches trying to figure out issues, but never have seen nor experienced what you discribe. Thanks Mike |

Thanks Mike It is R5A22 upgraded from the last alpha. But I had the problem with the database stopping responding before the upgrade. For hardware I have: Asus mobo with intel chipset Intel celleron D 3.06Ghz 1gig of ddr dram SATA HDD pvr-350 tuner & TV-out pvr-500 for tuners usb keyboard using onboard audio & network |
