Future MythBox: Shuttle barebones with nForce chipset, Athlon 1200 (not even XP), 512 megs DDR, Phoebe PC-to-TV. (Supposedly the latter is chip 22, tuner 21 ... but since it's not up yet, who knows.) Got MythTV up & running fine in Mandrake 9.1 using RPMS; but couldn't get tuner to work. Too bad I didn't know about "tuner 21". Thought KnoppMyth would be fun but couldn't figure out how to get the nForce NIC configured. Oh well, back to Mandrake. But I'll happily try KnoppMyth again. |

you have to download the nforce network driver from nvidia.com. it is small enough to put on a floppy since you obviously won't have access till you've compiled the driver. I am running knoppmyth on a nforce2 mb using onboard sound, tv-out, and nic. Works fine other than the fact that I am overdriving my processor with a bttv card and an ivtv card. One thing about the nforce two though I could not get it to work till kernel version 2.4.22 with the nforce stuff in it. |

Could I make some requests to include in the distribution? <ul> <li> All SAMBA tools (smbfs, smb-common...): It's convienient to mount a windows share in /myth/music or /myth/video to access music on my workstation. I don't have enough space to keep everything on the myth box. </li> <li>libcursesperl: required by mythmkmovie</li> <li> patched mplayer and mencoder: required by mythmkmovie and useful for archiving in general. </li> <ul> I also share /myth/music and /myth/video via smb for easy access from windows boxes. |

All you've requested, less libcursesperl is already included in R4. Samba however isn't configured. |
