Post subject:  mythfrontend wont run

Not sure what I did.. The system was running fine for the last few days, and I have happily been playing with it..

When I try and launch mythfrontend I get:
2005-12-14 17:40:13.205 New BD Connection, total: 1
Total desktop width=640, height=480, numscreens=1
2005-12-14 17:40:13.214 Using screen 0. 640x480 at 0,0
2005-12-14 17:40:13.222 Setting Lock for Database Schema upgrade. If you see a long pause here it means the Schema is already locked and is being upgraded by another Myth process.
2005-12-14 17:40:13.224 New DB connection, total: 2
2005-12-14 17:40:13.228 Told to create a NEW database schema, but the database already has 55 tables.
If you are sure this is a good mythtv database, verify
that the settings table has the DBSchemaVer variable.

2005-12-14 17:40:13.231 Database Schema upgrade FAILED, unlocking.
2005-12-14 17:40:13.232 Couldn't upgrade database to new schema, exiting.

Then just the prompt... Are there any utilities that will fix this?? Or how can I just wipe the databasae and start over without re-installing everything?

Post subject:  Not enough info to help

Hi,

Some ideas will rise in senior contributors of the forum while reading your post. But I think that you've provided not enough info to help. What version do you use? Remote frontend? What do you mean by 'Not sure what I did'? The frontend is usually starting automatically, are you starting it manually?

Is this a KnoppMyth install you use?

Sorry, thought that since this was a forum for knoppmyth I thought it was understood that is what I was using... R5A26.

The front and back ends are on one box, I have yet to get a remote frontend working (that will come later)

When I start the box, I just get the generic background.. Even when I try and start it from the menu, I get nothing, that is why I dropped to an xterm and tried to start that way to see what I would get.

And by "not sure what I did" I mean that I was playing with a bunch of stuff, and obviously something went ary. It was fine, I walked away and came back to it a couple hours later to a generic desktop, tried to restart the front end with no luck and shutdown and rebooted.. This is where I am at...

there is a sticky post in the howto or tips and tricks section about how to check the database for corruption, and repair if necessary that would be my next step.
