Post subject:  MythWeather getting confused with dates...

I am based in NZ, and mythweather always seems to be a little confused about dates. This is on R5A26.

We are NZD = GMT+13, so we are a day ahead, and 6 hours behind EST.

In the afternoon, MythWeather shows tomorrows weather as yesterday.
It shows todays weather sometimes as today, and sometimes as yesterday.

It feels to me line the conversion to UTC (which the weather is probably reported in) is not being converted to NZD well.

Has anyone seen this?
How do I find out the raw information that mythweather pulls - I'd like to understand where the issue is coming from.
Anyone have mythweather work well in NZ?

Thanks.
Paul.

Australia has similar problems (well, at least at home, where I am running 0.16). Haven't cared enough about this to see if it is fixed in more recent versions.

i think what needs to be done, is an option to grab the info from different places around the world to get a more current and up to date info.

Post subject:  same confused dates with R5C7

I'm in the USA (zipcode 55419) and am also getting the confused Mythweather dates in version R5C7.

It is currently Saturday and the date and time are correctly displayed at the tops of the MythWeather screens, but it gives me a forcast for Friday (as if it were Thursday).

The 3 day forcast is curently showing Saturday (today), Sunday and Monday.

The last frame of every radar loop has been unavailable every time I've checked today.

Any idea how to get the weather sorted out? (a forced update perhaps?)

Eric

I'm experiencing the same problem in 45056. Sometimes the weather data is correct, other times it's several days off.

Thats exactly what happens to me. I thought it was something to do with the NZ timezone being so far ahead but if you're getting it in the US as well then it must be something else. Maybe a UTC/timezone mismatch problem? Anyone get this problem in the UK?

Post subject:  my friend with the same system specs as mine has this too

I asked a friend who lives about 5 miles away from me if his MythWeather was screwed up and he said:

"My Myth wx was totally hosed on Thursday night. I've not seen it at all today, but assume there is somthing wrong with the URL source our myth boxes are looking at."

I bet he is right. Mine acts like it's stuck on Thursday too.
This has the feel of the Mythtv authors using links, data and radar images from the Weather Channel webpage without The Weather Channel's knowledge. So, when the TWC feels like rearranging their web pages, they do, because they don't know that 1000s of people are linked to specific URLs via their Mythtv boxes.

I think the layout for weather.com changed and the scripts that grab the data for mythweather need to be updated.

Me too (also 55419) but running R5B7: on Saturday, "tomorrow's" forcast was for Friday.

I've noticed similar things occasionally in the past with older versions of KnoppMyth. Sometimes the "current" conditions are from a day or two previous.

I have the same problem. I have noticed though that once in a while, when I go into the weather settings and reselect my city/zone.. then reload weather.. it all of a sudden works. but then it goes bad shortly there after.

I have a similar issue with MythWeather configured for The Hague in the Netherlands. It somehow screwed up dates and dys ever since I started experimenting with MythTV a month ago. Next to that the forecasts are totally wrong (but that's maybe a consequence of the wrong dates).

Yeah, it's downright screwy, but given the weather sources it's using the forecast and even current conditions seem to be useless half the time anyway... ;-)

If memor serves me right, i believe one of the myth summer of code projects is to improve mythweather and few other things... I am willing a bet many good things will come out of htis summer of code as far a myth is concerned. So hopeuflly things will be all good in 2-3 myth releases.
