I have some leftover .nuv files from a bad reinstall. how can I convert them to avi or mpeg that i can edit manually

From a PVR they're already MPEG-2 files. Just rename them appropriately. You can even move them over into the /myth/video directory and use xine to view them as is. If you need help with the commands see the LinuxTips page on the wiki...

OK well my windows box wont open them in Media player, winamp or a video eding prog i have. is there a good gui video editing prog for linux?

Strange, after renaming recordings from xxx_xxxx.nuv to xxx_xxxx.mpg my windows application is playing the files without trouble.

I like MainActor 5 from http://www.mainactor.com/, but its non GPL and expensive!!

There is Cinelerra, far too complex to just edit occasionally, but with GPL licence. I never managed to get it compiled on R5A16.

I'm pretty sure, that there are more simple video editors around.

Found a command on the wiiki to convert them to divx. Ill check out the editors, thanks guys
