Post subject: | nuv2disc and resolution |
Hope this is the right place for this topic. I recently upgraded from R5A16 to R5A26 and added a DVD burner. I have MythBurn working and nuv2disc. I was testing nuv2disc on a monitor and now that I've switched to TV Out on my PVR-350, the resolution drops to 720x480 and its very difficult to use nuv2disc because I can't see a great portion of the screen. I've tired editing my XF86Config-4 file for all the dimensions from 720x480 to 800x600, rebooting, but to no avail. Is it possible to change the resolution so I can use nuv2disc? Thanks |

I also am having this problem and haven't found a solution. If available, it would be much appreciated if a link to a possible solution or a suggested solution. With kind regards, Dr. Hood |

Okay, I found this thread that might have the solution. I will try it and report what happens. KnoppMyth "Create DVD" button gives error Dr. Hood |

Unfortunately, following the instructions of the link (i.e., editing nuv2disc.sh and inserting MYX=720 MYY=480) above did not solve the problem. Can anyone suggest an alternative solution? Dr. Hood |

I remember trying the instructions in that link, but I think they applied to an older version of nuv2disc. If you're running R5A26 or newer (maybe even A22), nuv2disc will run even if the resolution isn't right. Its useable even though some of the stuff is partially off screen because enough is visible to make it useful. Recently I just have used MythBurn because it works, but the mandantory menu and mythtv splash are annoying, problems that nuv2disc doesn't have. |

Thank you for the reply, it is great. This is really unfortunate because one of the advantages of MythTV over Tivo and other PVR is the ability of burning recordings to DVD. As far as I can tell 'MythBurn' is not setup as default in KnoppMyth, so it has to be done manually. If this incorrect, please let me know how to access 'MythBurn' from within KnoppMyth. I prefer to use the default application whenever possible. Yes, I managed to figure out how use Nuv2disc to burn a recording. 'Create data CD', haven't been successful with 'Create DVD' or 'Create kvcd' yet. I was on planning on demonstrating KnoppMyth to a few colleagues of mine, but one thing that is going to come up is the ability to save recordings onto DVD. The fact that only part of the Nuv2disc can be seen (although) functional will be a big detractor as these are Windows users and used to nice GUI. Dr. Hood |

You're right that MythBurn isn't install by default, you'll have to it yourself, I believe there are directions on the wiki. I don't know what version you're using, but you can get the latest version of nuv2disc here: http://extras.mythtvtalk.com/install_htm.html What specificially goes wrong when trying to make a dvd? |

Thanks for the reply ChaosDolphin, I am happy to report that in the KnoppMyth R5A30.1 release, MythBurn is installed by default and accessible via MythWeb. It did require a bit of tweaking (see below), but it works quite well. I haven't been able to resize nuv2disc screen so that it fits on the TV screen, but hopefully the developers can resolve this in an upcoming release. MythBurn Tweaks: (A) Problem: Had the following error when burning a DVD using MythBurn via MythWeb.... Quote: **ERROR: [mpeg2enc] Could not read YUV4MPEG2 header: system error (failed read/write)! (A) Solution: replaced line 69 in 'createintro.sh' file located in /myth/mythburn/scripts' directory.... Original line 69 of createintro.sh file Quote: nice jpeg2yuv -v 0 -n $((framerate * ![]() New line 69 createintro.sh Quote: nice jpeg2yuv -v 0 -n 200 -I p -f $framerate -j \ Reference(s): MythTV BurnDVD error Update mythburn script (B) Problem: Mythburn did not have the correct permissions to use the DVD drive (/dev/hdc). (B) Solution: Executed the following command to change the permission of /dev/hdc As root...... Quote: chmod 666 /dev/hdc
Reference: problem with burning recordings to dvd Hope this helps others.... Dr. Hood |
