Hi, I've had my KnoppMythbox connected to my TV for a while now... and how great is it? Fantastic!!!

But I have a couple of bugbears that I need to sort out. The most pressing and obvious one is a sound issue/jitters that occurs with quite a high frequency under certain conditions, but it is inconsistant in when it happens.

The only consistancy is this: This only occurs I am recording one show and watching another. After a sort while (half an hour or so, give or take ten, fifteen mins) for a few minutes the sound breaks up and the picture becomes a little jumpy. But only for a few mins and then it (so far) returns to normal.

I'm guessing this is to do with processor load, but at the moment the Mythbox is a standalone frontend/backend and not networked. (So I can't SSH in, not that I know how to... yet).

My KnoppMyth Box is as follows:
R5A26
AMD Sempron 2600+
512 Geil Value Ram @ 333mhz
Abit NFS-v2 mobo onboard sound (about to try it with a Soundblaster live 5.1 card)
Nova-T dvb cards (x2) each with own dedicated aerial
DVD Romdrive
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2514N 250GB ATA-133 8MB Cache

Connected via s-video to a Philips 32' 100hz tv.

Thanks.

If you have commercial flag turned on try turning it off and see if the problem continues. I had these sort of problems and more when I was commflagging hdtv recordings while trying to watch hdtv. The comm flag never really worked reliably for me anyways, so no big loss.

Is there a way to schedule commercial flagging to only run during a certain time period? (middle of the night) Or only when the CPU isn't doing other things?

Yes. Run mythtv-setup, and look under the General item. The job queue start and stop times are several pages in.
