Post subject:  Toggle video via lirc

Right now I am just using a computer monitor plugged into the onboard video on my motherboard. Is there a way to make the power button on the remote toggle the vga out? I think it would be a good way to put the monitor into standby as opposed to having to get up and turn the monitor off each time.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure there must just be a simple linux command to switch the monitor off! Try searching for linux dpms off command or similar. You could try the xset command, I'm not near a linux machine atm so can't try it out.

Code:
xset dpms force off

I tried that on my box and it didnt do a thing. When browsing a conf file (I forget what it was called exactly), it said that dpms was enabled.

Any ideas?

Hint: /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps
Hint: [startup] {xset -dpms s off}
Turns it off, who needs their TV blanking out on them when watching a show?

I removed the line and rebooted. "Xset dpms force off" still does nothing in the command line. Is there any other places I should check?

My XF86Config file has the Option "DPMS" line under Section "monitor" as well, btw.
