I'm having problems :(

I'm running R5A30 (not R5A30.1), on a Nehemiah w/ 256MiB memory and an AVerMedia A800 USB2 DVB card. All is set up and sort of working, and I'm using MythWeb to schedule recordings.

Problem is, when I use the TV guide to record a specific programme, it will start and end recording at the correct times, but uses the wrong channel. It seems to enjoy recording from BBC1 (my starting channel) rather than what it should be.

Looking at the backend logs, this is what I tend to see:

Quote:
2006-01-10 15:57:36.963 Reschedule requested for id 52.
2006-01-10 15:57:37.228 Scheduled 1 items in 0.3 = 0.18 match + 0.09 place

2006-01-10 17:00:00.370 Scheduled 1 items in 0.2 = 0.01 match + 0.22 place

The above example was meant to record from Channel 4, but instead recorded from BBC1.

I'm also experiencing backend crashes, which give this dmesg output:

Ouch! The reason you're seeing what's on BBC1 is likely due to:

Code:
2006-01-10 16:15:02.325 DVB#0 ERROR - Setting Frontend failed.
(22) Invalid argument
2006-01-10 16:15:02.329 DVB#0 ERROR - Tuning for channel #8384 failed.

Can you watch live TV on this system on other channels? When you did a channel scan, did you pick up the channel for BBC-4? Can you run tzap to tune to BBC4 out of myth? Is the USB port normal, i.e. have you used it for other things. 'Cause that backtrace does not look good. It looks like it gagged in the dvb area. Trying it outside of mythtv (via tzap) should help to determine if this problem is strictly a problem with the dvb driver or not.

It picked up BBC 4 fine and lots of other channels from different multiplexes. Had to tweak the tables to get the names and callsigns all matched up, but that all appears to have gone ok.

USB port hasn't been used for anything else under this install.

I only have SSH access right now (no TV or kb hooked up) so I can't check the tzap output right now. The problem is vert intermittent; this morning I manually set up a couple of minute-long recordings to record from BBC1 and then Channel 4, which both recorded fine. I did the same yesterday and it recorded BBC1 both times. I'm going to leave it on as it is (now it's "working") and see if it records programs later on in the day. But it'll only be a matter of time before the backend crashes, I restart it/reboot and it goes back to its old ways...

Ok, it recorded the right channels this afternoon. I suppose I'll that next time it gets rebooted, I'll have to check it's working properly before I trust it with my schedules. I'll keep an eye on it.
