Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears. I've come to ask for aid, not to rake you over the coals. Since the inception of KnoppMyth, Dale and I have been "footing the bill". Dale provided the first mirror and continues to do so. In additional, he continues to work hard on the new installer. Currently, I host the site on a PII on my home DSL line.

Now, Open Source Labs has offered to host the site for us. But to do so, we must provide them with a server. Being "average Joes" oursevles, we cannot just run out an obtain a server.

So, if KnoppMyth has saved you time and/or brought you some measure of joy. We humbly ask that you donate so that we can purchase a server and move the site to a much faster link to the Internet. You can find a link to PayPal at the bottom of the KnoppMyth page.

Thanks for the consideration.

Cecil and Dale

What about donating actual hardware instead of money?

Romans, countrymen, and lovers! Hear me for my cause, and be
silent, that you may hear. Believe me for mine honor, and have
respect to mine honor, that you may believe. Censure me in your
wisdom, and awake your senses, that you may the better judge.
If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of Cecil's,
to him I say that Dale's love to Cecil was no less than his.
If then that friend demand why Dale rose against Cecil, this
is my answer: Not that I loved Cecil less, but that I loved
Rome more.

No really, why can't we send a server. I bet with the people here we have more than enough.

I will ante up right now and say that I have a 2U case with power supply and dual pIII sitting in my garage. I think there is enough space for 4 hard drives. I can get the specifics of the model if this is a possibility.

Hit me up on aim or pm me if this is the route we will want to go.

I can't think of a better thing that I would rather donate this server to.

I've only been using KnoppMyth since October, and I'm already hooked! Thanks for a wonderful application - I'm more than happy to contribute. Keep up the good work!

OK done.

Can I make a suggestion? Consider adding a fund raising thermometer on the KnoppMyth website. An alternative could be something like a newegg.com "wish list" account to see what is still needed.

I love KnoppMyth and use it all the time. I really appreciate all the work you've done and do. I want to help out and I am sure others will too.

Thanks!

Andrew Lynch

A donation thermometer thing is a great idea :)

What kinda spec server are you looking to get & how much will it cost?

Thanks. Another idea is for people who are members of Linux-SIGs (like DMA Linux-SIG) or MUGs (like Dayton MythTV User Group) to send a copy of the notice to their groups mailing list.

KnoppMyth and MythTV are always hot topics at our Linux SIG meetings and there are lots of interested people. This might catch some that are not frequent KnoppMyth Forum readers who'd like to donate.

Thanks!

Andrew Lynch

What type of server do you really need? We throw away perfectly good servers all the time. What do you need?
