Post subject: | MythStreamTV can't connect |
I've been completely unsuccesful in getting vlc/mythstreamtv to work form my new R5A26 install. Everything seems right on the mythbox side, but when I try to connect with vlc from my linux desktop or with media player from my wife's wndiows box it says it got a connection refused: Code: $ vlc http://pandora:8001/
VLC media player 0.8.2-svn Janus [00000241] main playlist: adding playlist item `http://pandora:8001/' ( http://pandora:8001/ ) [00000250] access_http access error: cannot connect to pandora:8001 [00000250] access_http access error: cannot connect to pandora:8001 [00000250] access_mms access error: cannot connect to pandora:8001 [00000248] main input error: no suitable access module for `http://pandora:8001/' [00000241] main playlist: nothing to play [00000241] main playlist: deleting playlist item `http://pandora:8001/' (I get the same thing when I substitute the ip address for pandora) On the myth side, I can see the vlc process running and there is nothing suspicious in the mythstreamtv log file. Is this maybe because I have a software encoder? Or is it possibly an overly aggressive iptable somewhere? |

what format are your recordings? you may need to check the vlc site to determine if the format can be streamed. There may be some parameter tweeks to the vlc command. http://www.videolan.org/streaming/ |

I'm recording mpeg4. I did look at the VLC site docs a while back, but I didn't think I saw any problems with mp4. I guess I should look at it again... |

BTW... I did discover that vlc 0.8.2 cannot stream MPEG4 knupplevideo files. There was a post on mythtv-users that said that 0.8.4 can and that it is fairly straitforward to build. I have not tried this yet though. |
