KnoppMyth installed nicely for me but it selected lirc_i2c as the driver when I told it I had a IR Receiver. However I have a bttv card in my system and it would be nice if it was smarter about making a choice here or give you the option to run setup.sh to select what kind of driver to build. Alternativly, it could build the "any" driver (perhaps only available as a choice if you use ./configure instead of ./install.sh) and then the user would just have to edit the modules.conf file rather than track down the lirc directory and rebuild it themselves.

I'm sure that not all cases can be handled automatically but I suspect the majority of the non-i2c cases can.

One other little suggestion....add the ability to back up to the prior screen in the installation dialogue (this is the post-boot configuration dialogue). I found I was using the numeric keypad for entry without numlock and it would skip to the next screen. The might have been a better way but I had to reboot to start over.
