I'm looking to make a DVD of the commercials from the superbowl. I recorded it over a firewire connection to a DCT-6200.

Has anyone got a clever trick to reverse the cutlists so that only the commercials get transcoded?

If I want to transcode this to the highest (not blue-ray) DVD quality, what settings should I use.

p.s. I'm a newbie to transcoding - thanks

You could manually go in and reverse the direction on the cutlist. This would elimenate the Superbowl and leave the commercials. It might be time consuming. I am not aware of an automatic way of doing this.

What format is the cutlist stored in and where?

I believe that there is a function to do exactly what you want.

I see in the key bindings on mythweb a function in the 'TV Editing' section called INVERTMAP - "Invert Begin/End cut points" I see that 'I' is maped to this function....but I have changed many of my key mappings.

Check your keymap for that function and see which key is associated.

Using nuvexport, I am trying to cut the commercials from some shows recorded over firewire from a DCT-6200 (so MPEG2-TS). I have setup the commercial cutlist and am not trying to use that options.

Code:
Filename "/myth/tv/2040_20060214190000_20060214193000.nuv"
OutFile "/myth/pretty/Good Eats - For Whom the Cheese Melts 2.mpg"
Last Frame 0
Cutlist "2301-14762 18598-30439 36531-45310 51831-"
Finding the AV Offset to use with lvemux: 0 (not detected)
Indexing the file with avidemux2
Cutting out commercials with avidemux2
Remultiplexing video
GOP timestamps will be rebuild
ERROR: opening A/V streams (0/0)
Cleaning up
rm: cannot remove `/myth/tv/2040_20060214190000_20060214193000.nuv.idx': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove `2040_20060214190000_20060214193000.m2v': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove `2040_20060214190000_20060214193000.mp2': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove `2040_20060214190000_20060214193000.m2v.idx': No such file or directory

Is the error I get and nothing is in the directory I specify. Also, I suspect this should take more than 3 seconds. Any idea what is going on and how do I fix it?
