Hey all

Everything is working just great in my system, couldn't be happier, except with one problem. I've got about 5 channels that all display the same channel, and its not the right one. Just so you understand me, channels 7, 19, 20, 21, 22 all display what should be channel 18. Now luckily, 4 of those channels are CSPAN, CSPAN2, and the two Educational channels :) but channel 7 is ABC, and I would actually like to watch that one.

The thing thats funny is when I was first testing the tuner (I have a PVR 500 with Samsung tuners that needed an IVTV update, so I had to do a lot of tweaking) I could have sworn that ABC came through just fine, but now it doesnt, and I've cleared and re-downloaded the channel info a few times.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.
-Jim

We deffently need more info on your setup.

1) Where are you located? USA, Europe?
2) What input on your pvr-500 are you using? Tuner, s-video?
3) What is your video source? Cable, Over-the-air, satalite?
3a) If cable or satalite Who is your provider? Comcast, Adelphia, directTV?
4) Where do you get your channel listing from? Zap-2-it?

The only thing I can think of is that the ivtv driver is still not loading 100% correctly. Have you tried any different versions of the firmware? Both tuners on the pvr-500 display the incorrect channels?

Also post the entire output from ivtv loading. It is stored in dmesg.

Sadly the ivtv information isn't in /var/log/dmesg any more with ivtv 0.4.2... The need to move ivtv out of /etc/modules, so that the firmware will load successfully using the hotplug mechanism means you have to fall back on using /var/log/messages. I've updated the http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CheckingLogFiles page on the wiki.

You are correct tjc, the ivtv output isn't listed in my /var/log/dmesg file. But it does come out when I use the dmesg command (dmesg|grep ivtv). I thought the two produced the same results. Appearently not.

JimElNino try this command
Code:
sed -n '/= START INIT IVTV/,/=  END INIT IVTV/p' </var/log/messages | less

Yeah, they're different. The dmesg command actually seems to use the contents of the messages file, or something like that, because as stuff gets rolled out of that, it disappears from the output. Thats's why I started using the dmesg file...
