Hi

I have just upgraded from R5A16 to R5A30.2. I did do the backup and restore operations.

Things are mostly back to normal, now except I can't play back any recorded shows. The shows are all there under /myth/tv, and mplayer will play them. They are even listed under Media Library>Watch Recordings. However when I select a recording, and choose play it just dumps me back to the recordings list. It outputs to the console that the file can't be found.

I also ran nuvexport in order to see if it could browse the recorded shows, but it gives some error, then says no recordings found.

Please help! thanks.

Check the logs to see if it provides more detail on what names it's looking for. The naming seems to have changed somewhere along the way. You may be able to rename or symlink the files to the names expected...

I grepped mythbackend.log for '.nuv' and found lots of the following entries:
Code:
grep '.nuv' mythbackend.log
....
2006-02-06 07:24:56.565 ERROR when trying to delete file: /cache/cache/1296_20060126230000_20060126233000.nuv. File doesn't exist.  Database metadata will not be removed.

It appears it's looking in /cache/cache for the nuv files. I know for a fact that I have /myth/tv as the directory for newly recorded shows. I wonder how this could have gotten screwed up in the sql database?

EDIT: I just checked the contents of /cache/cache, and it appears that a bunch of shows that got recorded last night were put there :
Code:
ls /cache/cache/
1005_20060205180000_20060205183000.nuv  1005_20060205203000_20060205210000.nuv  1005_20060205213000_20060205220000.nuv  nfslockfile.lock
1005_20060205183000_20060205190000.nuv  1005_20060205210000_20060205213000.nuv  1296_20060205223000_20060205230000.nuv

Unfortunately, I'm at work now, so I only have ssh access, but when I get home, as an experiment, i'll try making /cache/cache a simlink to /myth/tv, and see what results.

I'll also double-(triple?)check to see that I don't have the directories entered wrong in the backend setup.

Any other tips appreciated!

Zach

I feel really dumb. This is exactly what had happened. I inverted the directories for the ringbuffer and for the recorded shows. Once I fixed that, all the old shows worked again. Then all I had to do is move all the nuv files for shows that recorded since the upgrade from /cache/cache/ to /myth/tv/. Everything appears fine now.
