Post subject: | tv_grab: outdated http address |
Hi, just installed Knoppmyth. It's my first experience with Linux, and all seems to be working well, except I cannot configure the TV guide. Been looking in the forum, but cannot find an identical problem. In the setup I defined Portugal as my country, which is associated to the tv_grab_pt file. Afterwards I ran mythfilldatabase --manual as requested, which says "config file /home/mythtv/.mythtv/WinTV PVR150.xmltv does not exist, run me with --configure" so I do "tv_grab_pt --configure" and it says: "getting list of channels could not fetch http://tvcabo.pt/tv_cabo_prog_canal.asp, aborting". I've checked and this URL does not work. Also, I was able to locate the tv_grab_pt file in usr/bin and it shows that the script is from Jan 2005. Now, my questions: - are there / where can I find updates (nothing I could make use of on google) - how do I update this script BTW, I already added some 8-10 channels using the channel editor setup. If the tv_grab starts working, will it overwrite them? Just wondering if I should configure the other 50 or wait for this tv_grab thing to be solved... Any help is appreciated. |

You can download the latest from CVS at http://sourceforge.net/projects/xmltv. Just go to browse CVS. You probably only need the tv_grab_pt file. As for existing channels when running the grabber, if you have set up the xmlid correctly for these channels, it will add the schedule to them. If there is no matching xmlid, the grabber will create a new, unnumbered channel and put the schedule in there. I.e. You won't lose existing channels. I find it easiest to run the grabber first, then put the frequencyID and desired channel number into all the newly created channels. Cheers, Allen |

OK, got the newest tv_grab_pt, substituted the old one, gave the permissions needed by mythtv. When running the "tv_grab_pt --configure", it gave an error about not finding a "XMLTV/Capabilities.pm file in @INC (@INC contains /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.4 ...)" So I went to the CVS. Saw they had a newer version, so used Synaptic to update XMLTV. Rebooted just in case, but same error anyway. So I went back to the CVS, got the file, installed in one of the folders (/etc/perl/XMLTV), run again, and this time said "Description.pm" was missing. Same procedure as before, download and copy the file... Now it says that it can't locate "Unicode/UTF8simple.pm in @INC", and I cannot find that file in the CVS... Also, this method of copying each file does not look very "proper"... So, I'm out of ideas, but my knowledge of Linux and Knoppmyth is so little that maybe someone can help? |

It sounds like there have been major changes. I've always been luckly grabbing the latest tv_grab_de_tvtoday as the changes were only minor. You might have to grab the whole package. You might try "apt-get upgrade xmltv-util". This will probably grab the version from November, which might work. I see there is a version from January that may not be in the debs yet, so you may have to grab the whole package from sourceforge and build it manually. Good Luck! Allen |

@ pedro123: Just to know - did CVS install work or did you something else? There seem to be a lot of problems with tv_grab_de_tvtoday and with the CVS-version of the file I get the same errors like you. Thx Kai |
