Hello,
I know this problem got a considerable amount of thread-space in the pre-R5A30(s) days before a fix a fix was included, when it appeared that almost everyone could not eject their DVD and CDs because of an auto-mounting problem. I was one who had this problem and had done some of the fixes on my first R5A22 machine then R5A26 which included editing code, adding bits and creating an 'eject' button. All that was a distant memory until today....

It still works like a dream with DVD's and CDs but when I came to watch a MPEG4 disc through the KnoppMyth menu, I couldn't eject the darn thing. I forced an eject as root, but I don't like that as a solution. Far too clumsy. Inelegant one might say.

My knowledge of Linux is fairly thin, I can follow instructions and have done with many bits and pieces. But for this, I wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Search the forums, either through the search or via google. There is a very elegant solution posted somewhere.

Ok buddy, here's the definitive solution courtesy of Girkers.

Quote:
To enable this feature:

edit /usr/share/mythtv/optical_menu.xml (my suggestion)
add
Code:
<button>
<type>DVD</type>
<text>Eject Disk</text>
<action>EXEC sudo eject -r</action>
</button>

using visudo add ,/usr/bin/eject to mythtv user line

Thanks afrosheen. Appreciated. I had found that independently as it happens, but I haven't had a chance to do anything about it, or feed back. (Just don't know where this week has gone.)
As the latest release is just around the corner, perhaps I'll wait for 0.19!!! :D

Nice one Cecil. Keep up the good work. Hopefully oneday I'll know enough to contribute something to this myself!!!
