Myth TV has been running great for a few months now until recentley it started Freezing. Started off sporadically, and would only freeze after days of running. I started rebooting the machine every couple of days, which seemed to help it not freeze.

However, now it will freeze about 10 seconds into watching live tv . . every time.

When I issued DF I received the following, showing me that my /Cache is full.

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 3861332 2236048 1429696 61% /
/dev/hda3 10505464 10505464 0 100% /cache
/dev/hda4 144860296 34715540 110144756 24% /myth

Originally I was writing this thread to ask for the best way to clean the cache up . . . But, I started poking around and found the file /cache/cache/ringbuf1.nuv was the file that was taking up all the space on the partition. I deleted and touched this file and Myth has been running without freezing.

It appears the cache is deleting itself now after I stop watching TV, like it is supposed to. Hope this helps anyone else who might be having this problem.

Nick

What version of Myth are you running? There was a bug a couple of versions ago (26 I think... ). If memory serves, the bug meant myth thought the cache size was 16mb regardless of the size of the partition so it wasn't deleting it. There was quite a lot on the forum about it at the time.
Newer version have this fixed, but you can change this through one of the setup pages.
As I'm at work at present and can't remeber and can't remember where it is.

Hah, I am running R5A26. Thanks for the Info.

In the setup page the TV Buffer has been set to 10 GB the entire time, but for some reason it just wasn't deleting the ringbuffer(which is the file where live tv is buffered).

It appears to be working now though. Maybe I should upgrade to a newer version, but at the time I don't want to break it and have to fix it.

Know if the upgrade from R5A26 to R5A30.1 is a smooth one?
