ok last night my myth box locked up and would not do any thing. i shut it down and tried to start it but it would not post. so i reset the cmos. and got it running again. but now i set the bios clock at the right time. but now myth tv is off by about 5 hrs. what can i do to fix it and please make it simple im not much of a linux wise. |

Could be your system clock is set to local time but debian thinks it is universal time, so it is adjusting the time zone when it shouldn't. Check the file /etc/default for how UTC is set. If your system clock is set to local time then it should be UTC=no, if it universal time then UTC=yes. If it is wrong then change it and reboot to be safe. |

This is really simple, just do "/etc/init.d/ntpdate start" and it will sync your clock with an online time server provided that your knoppmyth box is online. |

ok where do i enter "/etc/init.d/ntpdate start" ? i dont know much about linux it took me 2 nights to get it up and running right. |

You are going to want to run that command at the terminal. Hit escape when you are in mythtv and it will take you to knoppix. Then mouse click on the desktop, then choose xterm. You might have to be in root, so type su then your password, then type the command. Hope this helps. |

A simpler way to get to an x-term (command line) is simply to type Alt-x. It pops the xterm window right on top of mythtv. You only have to move your mouse over the top of it for your typing to go to the command line. |

An easier way to get an xterm is just to press Alt-X. You can do this without exiting the frontend. Use Alt-tab to switch between windows (including the frontend) |

ok i have tried typing in /ect/init.d/ntpdate start and i get file not found if i type in ntpdate i get can't find host server. my internet is hoked up to it and i can go online for the news feeds and weather. is there any way i can do it off line. with out having to reinstall it? |

In your teminal window you can always type: date 02271421 (02 = February 27 = the date 14 = 2:00 pm 21 = 21 after or 2:21 pm). |

finally got it after i rebooted thanks a lot guys next have to search on how to set up the remote |
