THANK YOU So much for KnoppMyth. I had installed debian, and could get everything to work but ivtv, was giving me hell. I could get myth to work under mandrake, but didn't like mandrake and was unstable for me. I heard about this knoppmyth thing, gave it a try and low and behold i'm up and running in oh 1 hour or so, had to just install the nvidia drivers myself, but other than that, nice. The only issue i run into is either the myth-setup is run each time i reboot, or i have to physically start mythbackend from a xterm window. Don't know why, doesn't give me any erros when i run it manually, and i can see it starting in the linux start up thing. The big plus is how KnoppMyth is based off debian and really acts like it. Very stable and so far a pleasure to use (well except the first time i recoreded had some purple lines, had to go and watch live tv, change the channel, now it seems to be recordding fine) Plus has apt-get, so i've been doing alittle bit. WIsh i could figure out how to start gnome instead of FVM, i apt-get install gnome, it worked but when i log out of FVM only gives me a safemode Gnome to go into, any ideas. Second, if i want to install Ogle for my DVD player (i like it alot and simple key strokes that can match up with myth for a remote control) how can i use ogle instead? lastly i didn't install KnoppMyth's standard lirc module from the beginning, because i have the grey remote for pvr-250, i can still install this manually and get to work yes?

Lastly, if i get a pvr-350 also, does anyone know if KnoppMyth do 2 tuners at once and use the pvr-350 tv-out? i only use my myth box for tv watching and dvd playing (someday dvd burning too)

Also, one last thing, is there a way within Myth to see how much space is left in the directory your savings your files, i do to my second harddrive, and i have to exit myth and open an xterm and run df. THanks.

Well thanks again.

yes you can still run the install-i686-l script and get lirc support.

knoppmyth will do two tuner cards just fine, however the pvr350 tvout is not working with the default install and if you search the forums you will see that it is quite a chore to get it working at this point, however the devs have 350's and are working on it for the next version.

I don't know of a way in the mythtv interface, not to say it's not there I find new stuff all the time, but you can get this information from mythweb. Just point a webbrowser from another machine on the network to that machine and choose the mythbackend status.

I found a way to find space left, under delete recordings, gives you gb left and percentage left or used can't remember.

I know i can run the lirc script now, but does the native lirc from KnoppMyth work with the grey remote, the last time i had to get the cvs version of lirc, to get the grey remote to work.

I know i kinda asked alot in one question so i'm just gonna ask em seperately:
How do i get ogle to be my default dvd player in myth?

Can i use gnome instead of FVM and how do i do that?

The grey remote works fine with the include lirc. If you had installed the lirc support on install it would already be working.

it should be possible, but I haven't done it I think the issues is a modified gdm that is not showing you the session options, but not sure how to do it without some digging but at least now you have a direction.[/quote]
