I check the CPU utilization on my backend/frontend box and notice that the frontend is using ~25% even when I'm not viewing. Any idea what this is? I was planning on removing the frontend software and running on multiple other machines but figured I better not if it is really needed.

No, it isn't needed it you're only running a backend.

Thanks for the reply and as others have mention the great work on this distibution. Just curious, any idea what the frontend is doing when the backend is recording? I've disabled the auto playback while recording option.
