Hi, I've noticed that the user Mythtv has no serious password, and I think that's a bit disturbing... Especially when you open ssh to the otherworld as I intend to do quite a lot it isn't quite save. I've allready altered sshd.conf so that only my personal account can log in, or to say it in other words, I've denied the users root and mythtv to log in over SSH. The biggest issue I've got at this moment is that mythtv comes with the password : mythtv and I was wondering if I could change that without having to wurry about the functionality of the normal frontend / backend. Is there anybody who can tell me a bit more about this subject? TIA. Eppie. |

the thought crossed my mind as well, didn't change much on the knoppmyth though. I just consider the knoppmyth machine as 'untrusted', just like my windows2k and every guest who comes over with a laptop it doesn't contain any media files, it gets all the media from an smb server as read only, and I took an image from the hdd whitch i store on a dvd, at the first sight of trouble I just restore the image. the smb server is a standalone clarkconnect whitch can be called 'secure' though I have a few years of experience with linux I would like some of your insights on how you all secure your knopp edit: seems our posts crosses cesman, I'll have a look around |
