Post subject: | Need Help Recovering from disk full |
While away on vacation, my main volume filled up and since then I have been unable to get see recorded shows, schedule recordings either through the frontend or through MythWeb. The shows are in the /myth/tv/ directory and I can transfer them off via sftp. What I've done so far: - I have made space - restarted mythbackend - rebooted the machine (3 times) - launched the frontend, tried via mythweb between after each reboot and sitll no go. ![]() I can see the program guide information, but can not see recorded shows and my scheduled recording list is blank (I have a dozen or more regular recordings setup). When I try to add a recording, it acts like it is working, but then it doesn't show up. Please post suggestions for how to recover from this problem. Thanks |

When this happened to me, I had to remove some log files that grew to be very large. I ended up google'ing for the commands to search for recently created files above 5 megs. Sorry, I don't remember what it is, or I'd include it. Best of luck. auto-upgrading would also remove those log files (and reinstall everything else). |

This happened to me last night. I had to remove some of the log files in /var/log/mythtv/ to clear up the problem. If it were in the folder where the actual shows are kept, the oldest shows should automatically delete, though I've never got that folder full yet. So the full disk is most likely in the /var/log/ folder somewhere. |

Also hunt down the stcky thread about checking your DB tables... If the disk got full at a bad time they might be in rough shape. |

So, I checked the DB stuff and that was actually in good shape. I think I traced the problem down to deleting files from /myth/tv using the command line to make space, which really didn't make mythbackend happy. When I would try to connect via MythWeb, I tailed the log file Code: tail /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log Code: 2006-03-02 17:04:23.017 MainServer::HandleAnnounce FileTransfer 2006-03-02 17:04:23.022 adding: mythtv-silver as a remote file transfer 2006-03-02 17:04:23.030 Could not open /myth/tv/2014_20060222210000_20060222220000.nuv.png. 0 retries remaining. to find out that it was not finding some .nuv.png files. I went in and created those by copying another .png file to the files listed in the log file. After those errors, I would see lots of the following. Code: 2006-03-02 17:04:43.580 waiting for a thread..
2006-03-02 17:04:43.592 waiting for a thread.. 2006-03-02 17:04:43.604 waiting for a thread.. 2006-03-02 17:04:43.616 waiting for a thread.. 2006-03-02 17:04:43.628 waiting for a thread.. 2006-03-02 17:04:43.640 waiting for a thread.. 2006-03-02 17:04:43.652 waiting for a thread.. 2006-03-02 17:04:43.664 waiting for a thread.. Stopping apache and mythbackend made it stop filling the log file. I finally got mythweb access to recorded program and went in and deleted via mythweb the files that I had previous manually deleted. Things are much happier now. |
