Post subject:  IP Address and sound issues

When I installed KnoppMyth I told it I wanted it to get an IP address from the DHCP server. Now, however, I would rather that it was hard coded so I can run port forwarding to it with my router. Is there any script I can run to hard code my IP address and DNS settings on bootup? I know I could do it with ifconfig but I'm guessing it will just revert back to dynamic IP setting when it reboots. Any suggestions?

I also have noticed that if I watch live TV or a recording I get no sound. I never used to have this problem. If I watch a ripped movie or listen to some ripped music I have sound but not otherwise.

I have my cable box running to a PVR 350 with the 350's audio going to my sound card and then to the TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Phekno

Since Mythvideo uses mplayer and mythtv uses its own internal player, it might be that the sound is turned down on the internal player.. hit the "]" key to turn up sound.. I have never had a 350.. i would imagine it doesnt use a loop cable for sound. take a look at "aumix" and make sure all sound volumes are normal. There is also a few sound setup options under General setup of myth, play with some of those.

actually with a 350 if you are using the tvout of the 350 you have to use the loop cable to loop the sound back into the soundcard otherwise it just goes straight out the pvr350 for tvplayback, and out the soundcard for everything else.

The line-in on your sound card is probaly muted. Use alsamixer to unmute it and you should be golden.
