I haven't dug into this yet but I thought I would post a warning... Be very careful with apt-get install swat - the script removes several plugins from R5B7. I had to do a complete reinstall... |

In R5B7 be very careful of apt-get install anything. |

tjc: why is this? I apt-get installed screen and there were no dependencies so it seemed to go fine. I then wanted to install apcupsd via apt-get and saw LOTS of other things it wanted to install, so I did not install it. Cleaning up the apt-get situation I got into with R5A16 ( http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ght=firfox ) was one of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade. |

As you've already discovered dependencies and drift are the reasons. We're currently a long way from where stable is, so anything with nontrivial dependencies is going to want to drag a LOT of baggage along with it, probably to the deteriment of your system. |
