Hi, I can't get autofs working in R5B7. Before I upgraded from R5A30.2 I tried it out, mounting some Samba shares on other machines, following the instructions in the wiki. It worked fine. Today I upgraded to R5B7 (via a wipe & auto install) and whatever I do I can't get it to work. I think B7 comes with 4.1.3-4 of autofs, that didn't work - I upgraded the package to 4.1.3+4.1.4beta2-10, and it's the same.

The automount process appears to start (ps shows it fine) but my mounts are not where they should be. The base dir referenced in /etc/auto.master is created, but it's empty. The exact same config files worked fine in R5A30.2. When I started up autofs, I recall it used to output the base dir, it doesn't do that any more. Perhaps it's not reading in the map file correctly? Can anyone confirm that autofs works on their R5B7 (new install)?

I tried running automount by itself, that did the same thing - base dir but no contents. I had to move back to using a script I wrote myself before I discovered autofs, to mount the Samba shares - that works, so I know smbfs is fine. Anyone got any suggestions on how I should debug? Thanks.

Works fine here. I however am mounting via NFS and have no interest in SMB at this time.

Well, I typed out all the parameters in each file again, now it's kinda working... seems the trick is to ensure there are no tabs, and that the files are UNIX format... me bad. It's still not perfect though, my first few lines in auto.samba.mnt are of the format folder1/folder2 , and it's mounted them strangely, in the format folder1/folder1/folder2. Still, at least it's not an R5B7 issue, it's just be being dumb. Cheers!
