Forgive the dumb question, but I see R5B7 is out and it caused me to wonder - does the B indicate beta quality (seems so from the announcement), and the A in previous versions like R5A30 indicate alpha, and it's just coincidence that Knoppmyth went to beta from alpha at the same time MythTV went from 0.18 to 0.19 ?

You are absolutely correct (other than the suggestion of beta quality). The B stands for beta, A stands for alpha and it is coincidence that the first publicly released Beta is the first to include myth 0.19

C means "Cool", D means "Delightful", E means "Exceptional", F means Fabulous, & G means "Great" !!!
