Building the debs as per the instructions in the sticky worked like a charm. however when i try and view livetv all i get is static now. The only thing that installed was the myth debs generated from above. My ivtv is stil 0.2.x (i checked with a dmesg|grep ivtv). I have tried going in and changing the input with ivtvctl -p but only get static or a black screen or a screen with lines. i am running straight in from a cable box. It seems like ivtv is working as I do get static, but maybe that mythbackend is not setting the tuner to 3 as it is set to do(for cable box).

UPDATE:
still only get static from ivtv. I didn't change any of the ivtv setup (still running ivtv 0.2.0 from the last full Knoppmyth install I did) I have tried changing all of the inputs with ivtvctl -p and cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg and just get static on the one good tuner input 4 (as expected) and green or striped bars on the others. Its as if it is not tuning the channel to 3 so I can pick up the cable box signal (SA2000) . Would the .deb files have changed something in my ivtv module options? I have also deleted and recreated the capture card and input connections in mythtv-setup, run mythfilldatabase and powered down and booted back. I can confirm the cable signal from the ext box as I plugged it into a TV and got reception.

Any ideas at this point? I can't find any answer on the forum or the main mythtv-users list.

Cheers,
Bill

In case you haven't already noticed, you have walked into a rather large patch of quicksand.
While some enjoy trashing about trying to cheat the inevetiable, the rest will grab ahold of
that rope tossed out to you by Cecil and friends (R5B7) and end up with a nearly perfect
setup.

If you do indeed enjoy the fight, then what I would do is:

upgrade you kernel to 2.6.15 -- I would grab .config from knoppmyth B5B7
Upgrade ivtv to 0.4.3

and start from there. My guess is that your still going to need a rather sharp machetie.

Upgrade ivtv to 0.4.4, especially if you've got a newer PVR-150 card. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv

But the rest is dead on. R5B7 should be far less painful.
