Hi all,

In my effort to try to get everything to work...I broke a few things. My mythbox runs fine(R5A26), but i removed ffmpeg and transcode using apt-get.

Now when I reinstall I only get the CVS version of ffmpeg, which disables my main nuvexport choices(divx, xvid), and I cannot reinstall transcode at all.

Is there a way to install both binaries and libs to the stock ones that came with the release? Or do I have to reinstall?

I see what mythback "back's up", does this mean during the auto up-grade the /myth/tv dir/partition doesn't get formatted? Just trying to figure out if i need to transfer data to a ext. drive or not. Thanks.

When you upgrade the /myth partition is left alone. Only hda1 is reformatted and all new binaries installed. The upgrade is a pretty darned painless way to keep all your shows etc. intact and get the latest greatest KnoppMyth. It's one of the unsung heros of the KM distro -- no other system offers nearly as easy an upgrade path.
