Post subject:  Real Codecs

I've been looking around to get some realvideo's playing under mplayer.

some of the files are playing without any problems, others just have video and no audio, and some just don't play at all. I guess it's all about what version of real files I have...

on my debian machine it is very easy to install the codecs, just dl from mplayer website and place in /usr/lib/win32. I know there are some 'rights' issues concerning the use of w32 codecs on knoppmyth (and linux in general) but I know of no issues like that for the real format.

so my questions:
-will these codecs be supported in latest release (still running previous release)
-can I place the codecs from mplayer website anywhere or do I have to recompile
-would it not be easier to compile mplayer by default with the codecdir, and not providing any codecs that have rights issues

When I follow the instructions at:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ght=codecs
I am able to play everything. I always install the 'all' codec package instead of the 'essential' one on the mplayer website.
