Now that the kernel has support for the HVR hauppauge cards, I've taken the plunge & ordered the bits & pieces to make a Myth box. I'm just curious as to how much trouble (if any) I should expect from the fact that I'll have to upgrade the kernel from 15 to 16 before the card will work properly. Will it break KnoppMyth's install completely, or shrug it off like it's no consequence at all? I don't really mind either way, but if it'll cause some major issues, I'll wait until a weekend to do the install ![]() |

If you've compiled a kernel before and know what you're doing it shouldn't be a problem. |

The only issue you may have is if you use some of the wlan cards or other devices that cesman has compiled modules for that aren't in the standard kernel source. (for instance ivtv if you have a pvr card, or lirc for a remote) however if you are familiar with compiling kernels and kernel modules it shouldn't be a big deal. |

Marvellous. I've compiled kernels on numerous occasions, no problem there. Was just afraid that the answer might be "Don't even bother, it's 2.6.15 or nothing" ![]() Cheers! |
