Yes, running as mythtv

Code:
mythtv@mythtv:~$ ffmpeg -version
ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4718, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
  built on Oct 18 2005 17:26:48, gcc: 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-12)
ffmpeg      0.4.9-pre1
libavcodec  4718
libavformat 4616

This looks like the problem. I have recompiled ffmpeg myself and when i follow the same command i get:

Code:
root@mythtv:~# ffmpeg -version
ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4747, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
  configuration:  --build i686-linux-gnu --enable-gpl --enable-pp --enable-zlib --enable-vorbis --enable-libogg --enable-theora --enable-a52 --enable-dts --enable-libgsm --disable-debug --enable-divx --enable-asf --enable-mp3 --enable-mp3lame --enable-xvid --enable-faac --enable-pthreads --prefix=/usr
  built on Mar 27 2006 16:08:29, gcc: 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-12)
ffmpeg      0.4.9-pre1
libavcodec  4747
libavformat 4622

So initially i would recommend recompiling ffmpeg...

Yes, but I haven't compiled anything. This is how it is supplied in the latest Knopmyth !!

We seem to be getting our wires crossed. I have just upgraded to R5B7, and this is the result. If it's broken, then R5B7 has a broken nuvexport setup in it. There's no point in reinstalling it, because it has only just been installed.

I've had no luck getting nuvexport to work correctly, even after recompiling. Certain export settings will work (VCD, ASF, perhaps others) but the really useful ones (XVID, DIVX, DVD) always fail with ffmpeg errors. I have recompiled ffmpeg with the proper options, but nothing seems to work. It's all over my head at this point.

uninstall the package ffmpeg then compile from source.
Code:
apt-get remove ffmpeg
