Hi folks,

I followed the great guide on how to setup up nvram-wakeup (http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=WakeupToRecord) to have my system boot in time to record a sending.

However, since I have both the backend and the frontend on the same machine, the computer does not shutdown again after recording, it remains running: as long as the frontend is running, the backend won't go into idle (and finally power off). Is there some way for the backend to detect that the frontend hasn't been doing anything since a while and power off?

If you are using 0.19 then mythwelcome is what you want. You need to change your system to start mythwelcome when it boots up and set up the the backend to use mythshutdown on the backend Shutdown/Wakeup settings page.

Yep, seems exactly what I need - do you happen to know how to do this "change your system to start mythwelcome when it boots up" thing? The MythTV documentation doesn't seem to explain this.

Thanks in advance. :)

Edit the apps file in /home/mythtv/.fluxbox and comment out KnoppMyth-run and insert mythwelcome. Configure mythwelcome to start KnoppMyth-run.

I'll have to take a look at mythwelcome some time.

If you are following the wiki, you need to set up the "knoppmyth-wakeuptest.pl" script in step 7. This kills the frontend if the backend determines that it was started to record a show.
