Post subject:  Fine tuning channels in knoppmyth

Some of my channels from the cable look very washed out and lack color. All of my channels look like this to some extent, but a few are very bad. For example Discovery, on channel 16 looks almost black and white some times.

If I tune to the channel in mythtv or using ivtv-tune the picture looks bad.
Code:
root@mythtv:~# ivtv-tune -c 16 -t us-cable-hrc
/dev/video0: 132.000 MHz  (Signal Detected)

As I increase the frequency by 10ths of Mhz the picture becomes better, until I get to a point where I get some static on the screen.

Code:
root@mythtv:~# ivtv-tune -c 16 -t us-cable-hrc
/dev/video0: 132.000 MHz  (Signal Detected)
root@mythtv:~# ivtv-tune -f 132.1
/dev/video0: 132.100 MHz  (Signal Detected)
root@mythtv:~# ivtv-tune -f 132.2
/dev/video0: 132.199 MHz  (Signal Detected)
root@mythtv:~# ivtv-tune -f 132.3
/dev/video0: 132.300 MHz  (Signal Detected)
root@mythtv:~# ivtv-tune -f 132.4
/dev/video0: 132.399 MHz  (Signal Detected)

Is there a way to tell mythtv that channel 16 is 132.3 MHz instead of 132 MHz?

There is a fine tune column in the channel table. You can access it via, mysql, webmin, or even better through one of the channel editors. These are:

Under MythWeb - http://YOURHOSTNAMEHERE/mythweb/settings/channels

Under mythtv-setup - 5. Channel Editor

Thanks. That worked. There are 2 things worth noting though.

You can't change the frequency of an existing channel in mythtv-setup. It must first be deleted. then re-added.

The fine tune field in mythweb is an offset in KHz.

Thanks again.
