Hello,

After a long weekend I *almost* have a completely functional MythTV setup, this is the "final frontier" so to speak.

If I try to import a CD under the Optical Disks menu, I get the screen showing all the track information pulled from CDDB. When I press "import", it immediately ejects the CD and returns to the Optical Disks menu without even attempting to rip the CD. The same problem occured when attempting to rip a DVD, it reads the DVD fine and shows all of the movie tracks, but when attempting the actual rip it just does nothing. I can play audio CDs and DVDs just fine with no issue, it just won't rip them. On the audio CD side I tried changing to the Lame encoder with the same results. My system has a sngle IDE Lite-on DVD writer set as the Master drive on the secondary IDE channel. I have no references to it in /etc/fstab. I tried appending hdc=ide-scsi in lilo, that just broke playback as well so I quickly reversed that. I tried the old chmod 777 because I thought it might be a permissions issue, but that didn't make a difference either. I did recently apt-get install VLC so I could play my .ogm dual audio anime series, is it possible this broke packages needed to rip CDs and DVDs? I'm at a loss at what to try next, and my forum searches aren't giving me any clues. Anyone know where I can go from here?

This happened to me when the disk containing /myth/music was full (or had run out of inodes or something).

First thing to check is for any output from the MythMusic plugin (which is run in the frontend, so look in the file ~mythtv/.xsession-errors).

Thanks! That was exactly the shove in the right direction I needed. My mythbox pulls double duty as a fileserver, so I store all my music and downloaded videos on a second hard drive separate from the knoppmyth installation. So in Myth I reset the directories to /data/Music, /data/Pictures, /data/Videos, etc. The mythtv user didn't have write access to these directories, which was the problem. I changed permissions and all is well.
I declare victory over this box! LOL
