Post subject:  Boot Time DHCP

I hate to make my first post something so dumb, but I definately don't have a clue and have been turning up nothing in searches of the forum or on google. I've been away from Linux for a while now and am pretty rusty. I've also only ever used Red hat and mandrake distros, so Debian is new to me but I'm liking it so far. Anyway, here's my issue:

I have 1 NIC in my myth box.
nothing strange, it's eth0.
however, when the post-installation routine did the network config, I hadn't yet plugged in the patch to my router (Dumba$$!). I guess because it didn't see a conneciton it didn't set up the eth0 interface to do dhcp at boot time. if I "pump -i eth0" from a terminal window it gets an IP and I can web surf and see my win boxes. I'm trying to figure out how to get an IP at boot time and I can't seem to get it. I haven't used linux in some time, but I thought there was a dir somewhere under /etc where you could specify dhcp on boot for an interface but I can't seem to find it. something along the lines of a file called eth0 that you set up for dhcp and the ifup routine uses it on boot or when involed? Then I thought I could write a script to run pump and put it in init.d but that seemed kind of dumb, since I know there's got to be a way get the eth0 interface to do DHCP at boot.:?:

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
