I've been running R5A16 for about 9 months with ivtv upgraded to 0.3.7(h) so I can use the ivtv/Xv interace as an output for mplayer. It's been pretty satisfactory, but it has been deteriorating noticably for a few months now, so I'm thinking it's time to upgrade to R5B7. The two features I've been waiting for are now included:
  • ivtv that supports Xv
  • Mythburn

Befire I make the leap, I want to ask: have people had good results with ivtv 0.4.3 and mplayer?

When I first installed R5B7, I would have occasional problems with mplayer playing videos with no picture but sound only, at random (ie for the same file sometime it would work sometimes not). I never tried different command line options to see what would fix it because I didn't use videos that much.

However, since I upgraded mplayer (pre7try2 IIRC as part of installing mythstream) it hasn't happened (either fixed or the occurence is much reduced).

Thanks for the info.

I'm burning a CD of R5B7 right now, and I'll keep the mplayer upgrade in mind in case I have any playback problems in mythvideo.
