Post subject: | Using Myth Log Files |
This is something I should probably know by now, but I don't, so I'm asking. I've been searching for something that explains which logs in myth tell me which things. I've been having some hiccupping with video playback. Specifically, I was watching an HD show yesterday, and it started hiccupping. When I went to the backend status, it said my current load was about 3.5. (bad) Being that I've told myth not to run the jobs like commercial skipping until the middle of the night, I'm trying to find out how I would go about looking into what myth was doing at the time that would put in under such an excessive load. I know there is /var/log/messages ...but are there more useful logs that I should be looking at? I just want to understand the big picture and better determine the source of my problem. |

To se what is going on run the command "top" in a shell to list the top CPU consumers. If mythcomflag is listed it is running. For other Linux commands see: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LinuxTips |

/var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log... The frontend by default isn't set to log anything. The backend does the commercial flagging. |
