This is not a huge deal, but occasionally when I am watching live TV or recordings, the show that is playing freezes almost as if someone hit the pause button (but there is no pause dialog on the screen). The screen will stay in this state (hours and hours) until I hit pause or forward/rewind/etc. It will then pick right back up. Sometimes it happens 2-3 times in a row, sometime it will not happen for several hours. If it has been frozen for hours and hours on Live TV it will let me go through all hours of back recordings. It is not a big deal, I never lose any of the show, it is just slightly annoying and the last item to get a 100% WAF.
There does not seem to be any particular errors in the .xsession-errors file (or anywhere else).
Any ideas or directions to investigate would be appreciated.

You could run the frontend from an xterm. When the problem occurs, <alt><tab> to the xterm and look at the output.

Hi,
Any pointers on this "free video buffers"? R5A16, R5A26, R5A30 all do it to me on an otherwise faultless running machine. Makes the frontend freeze, desktop is ok. I can't go to the B series as I will loose my web editor and I am not even sure that would be the magic cure.
Sempron +3100 (1.8ghz) e-machine (I like the audio mixer)
512 meg mem
200 gig drive
FX5200 AGP video

Hi,
Just for some feedback on the frontend issue I had (and you guys also), I unchecked the "Enable realtime priority" under the Setup >Tv playback and so far has been up and running 14 hours continous. Don't know what the connection is, but if it keeps working, I won't complain.

Sadly I do not have SMP and I did not have realtime priority on (Turning them on made it worse though)

If you didn't recompile your kernel -- SMP is turned on.
It will still cause issues in some systems regardless of if your system has more than one
CPU or not.

Man, it takes awhile to recompile. I have recompiled with SMP turned off. I will let you know how it goes.

No joy, it happen within 30 minutes of the recompile. It does seem to happen on the hour and half hour (almost as if the transistion from one show to another is causing the freeze)
This is the final key to 100% WAF. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Since my wife complains about this all the time, I did try everything above and nothing has worked. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I am frustrated since this is the last step to make my system PERFECT and my WAF 100%.
Please help.
