I have a fresh install of R5B7 that tunes in channels correctly but I need listings. Is there a way to set up alternate Zap2it listings for the channels I can receive and then adjust Myth to use those listings?

There should be listings from Zap2it that would give me the proper info for say Sci-Fi or even local broadcast channels. How can I get Myth to use these?

Or is there another way to get listings other than Zap2it?

Thanks.

I'm not sure this solves your problem but the way to have multiple listings from zap2it is to use two different zip codes, one for your over the air broadcasts and the other for cable

In my case, since I had dual tuners, one for HDTV and one for regular cable, I used my zip code for one of the channel lineups and a neighboring zip code for the other lineup. Works great.

The problem is that Zap2it doesn't have listings for this specific cable company (Time Warner/Cincinnati). But there is a cable company across the river in Kentucky (Insight). The listings I'm sure are nearly the same for the major channels but the channel numbers would be different.

Is there a way to use the other listings (Insight) and change the channel numbers to match Time Warners?

I had a similar issue with my setup as I only have Satellite and then I have "local" channels from the major city 300 miles away.

What i did for this was just start plugging the zipcodes for that city and surrounding area until I found a listing that matched up. It isn't perfect but I was able to get about 95% of the listings that are the same as mine. The ones that were different either I don't watch or I didn't have so I chose to ignore those issues.

Again it isn't a perfect solution, but definitely a work around. Might try researching that.

Otherwise changing Channel number assignments sounds like something you would need to "Code" or wirte script for.

Anyone have any ideas on how to, or give me direction where to start looking, on how to change the Channel number assignments?

I'm pretty sure I can get accurate listings but the channel numbers do not match up for the other cable company.

I've found out how to do this while playing around. This works for Analog cable and I suppose broadcast. Digital cable may need some different settings due to the stations frequency. Knoppmyth R5B7 was used.

I used another cable companies listings close to here to make sure that the local broadcast stations had listings. I went to labs.zap2it.com to select the stations I wanted to get listings for that matched my available channels.

When you get to Mythtv-setup go through the General, Capture cards, Video sources and Input connections like you normally would. Do not scan for channels but just use the zap2it listings to get your stations.

When you get to Channel editor you should see the available channels brought in by zap2it. Select each one and change the channelNumber on the first page and on the second page change the the frequency or channel to match the the stations real number.

I takes some time to go through all the listings but it works nicely.

Can anyone give details for Digital cable? A friend will be needing some help with this.

I run mythfilldatabase and it seems to work, but my listing is blank and i get no guide. Password and channels all seem correct on their site. It also tells me that my tuner is set to channel 3, and there is no channel 3. I think i have it set up right as it worked before. Using svideo0 opff the pvr 250...
