Good Afternoon
Has anybody figured out how to get the get a analog VCR AV channel as a
channel in mythtv (using a PVR-350 Card)?.

I would loop the antenna cable through the VCR. It is probably just a
question of knowing which frequencey to set in the mythtv-setup
programm.

Hi i did some search and found that there is talk of tuning to channel 2 or
3. Is there a certain (maybe dummy-) frequency associated with the
VCR output. I do have my analog antenna cable looped through the VCR,
so it should not be the issue of not having the signal from the VCR. I am
also aware that it will have to be a manual recording from within mythtv.

Any hints?

I've noticed that my stand alone DVD recorder sends out a bad signal when using the Coax out when connected to a TVs Antenna in. Except for channel 3/4 which is what you would be watching on the VCR. If this is what you are palnning you may want to test it. You could add a splitter before the VCR and send one to it and the other to the PVR-350.

Are you recording from tape? You would want to use s-video in or at least composite for best picture. That way you don't have to mess with the coax cabling.

Do you mean I shoud use a scart cable on the VCR side and a S-Video
input on the PVR-350 side? And then setup another "Tuner" in mythtv-setup
as "composite? What would the channel setting be (frequency) of that
composite source?.

Btw, I find it quite confusing to figure out where mythtv places the channel
settings (ie. What to specify:Either channel frequceny or if inputting
channel names, where the frequencies are stored that are used to map to
the chennel names (I am in PAL europe-west/austria channel names
would be E7,E8 - not the actual station callsigns).

I just read up a little on SCART, sounded familiar but have no dealings with it. I suppose you can get an adapter to go from SCART to S-Video? If you can use this first for best posible quality.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCART

I know you can go into myth-setup and configure the card to use its other inputs. You won't use the input as a tuner but as another source. You will see it once you get there.

I've not used the card this way before. Someone else may be able to answer this?

Hi,

Dig around in the forum as there has been discussions in regard to using the composite input. Here is one sample.

There should be some info for users that connect satellite/cable settop boxes to their Myth boxes. Since they can't tune Encrypted stations the way to get it into the box is through those other inputs.

SOLVED: I got it working. Here is what I did:

Cabeling: I used the scart cable provided by the hauppauge 350 (pal)
version and attached it to the composite input at the rear of the
350 card and on my vcr it is attached to the SCART jack, that previously
went to the TV.

Setup in mythtv with mythtv-setup
* Added another video source "VCR" (where you normally link to epg data)
* Linked the "VCR" source to composite-3 of the PVR350
* Set up a channel called VCR on Position 100 on channel 3
(I did this because in some of the threads that were posted there were
some statements that it would only work with channel 3)

Switched on mythfrontend and it worked straight away

Thanx for all the input
