# Knoppmyth Version: R5E50
# Video type: HDTV - ATSC OTA
# Type of system: combined front- and back-end
# Noise level: I had to put it in my closet because it was too loud - however, the case fans are the issue here... i could probably fix this, but since this is primarily a backend, i may not.

# CASE: Enermax big, ugly blue case (free hand-me-down)
# PSU: Enermax Whisperquiet EG465P-VE (free hand-me-down)
# MOTHERBOARD: EPoX EP-8KDA7I ($41)
# CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ ($55)
# RAM: WINTEC AMPO 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) ($42)
# CPU HEATSINK: COOLER MASTER CK8-8JD2B-0L 80mm CPU Cooler ($7)
# NORTHBRIDGE HEATSINK: none
# CD/DVD-RW: LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner ($28)
# HDD: Maxtor 80gig (free hand-me-down)
# GRAPHICS CARD: MSI FX5200-TD128LF Geforce FX5200 DDR AGP ($34)
# SOUNDCARD: onboard AC97
# TUNER CARD: Kworld ATSC-110 ($32)
# REMOTE CONTROL: none (I may add the Kworld remote, but not a priority)

Total: $239 (plus spare parts)

This build fired up ready to go except for the Kworld ATSC-110 driver load fix that can be found here: KWORLD 110R ATSC Card Driver - still not recognizing. I haven't tested everything out, but Live TV works without XVMC (I'm gonna mess around with settings to see what looks best later this week). The whole out of pocket was pretty cheap with the parts I had lying around.

My plan is to build a diskless frontend (parts are lying here, ready to be put together) to use with this. It will exist mainly as a backend and a media server for my mac. It's pretty noisy (case fans are loud), but will be out of the way in a spare bedroom. I often watch TV while riding my bike on a trainer, so i wanted it to be able to play HDTV, too. Seems like it will perform pretty well for such an inexpensive build.

Just using a 21" CRT Monitor with it now. Looks pretty good, but I've got to mess with overscan and stuff to get it just right.

Got some work to do, but so far this has been incredibly easy thanks to Knoppmyth! Thanks!
