Finally have a working MythTv...Phase I of III complete. (phase II is addict wife, phase III is upgrade to a nice settop like box, extra tuners, massive HD, and more stinking memory

Dell Dimension 4300
128 M ram <- may be causing lockup
pvr-350 model=48132, rev=K168 <-- this is why it's tier 1.5
40G HD
Fedora Core I

My machine works very well...sorta, I have a little red in the picture which I'll pull out, and kde crashes. I think this would be solved with more memory, better cooling, and perhaps XFS as my store dir file system. Since I live in the middle of nowhere, I'll have to order the memory. I'll post again when I figure out the stability issue.

I followed Jarod's howto
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php

I would, however, not name your host "mythtv" or anything that has myth, pvr, tv, etc...makes grepping logs much more difficult. I left mine as "localhost", yea, not cool or original but who's gonna see it when it's working right?

Made a mistake the first time...after doing:
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
your /etc/apt/sources.list will change to add the kde-redhat.atrpms.net lines mentioned in the "big fat warning"...ok, ok...scold me.

Follow those directions and if you have a pvr-350 with the K168 revision, then your /etc/modules tuner type = 10

I had no problems. Just follow the instructions.

Many thanks Jarod!!!

If I didn't post something you'd like to see, let me know.

good luck.

I have a hard time reading sometimes. When I started testing Myth, I found this forum useful and didn't notice it was Knoppy specific. Knoppix didn't work for me, wilson did, and I posted my results hoping it would help someone.
