Stock autoinstall, all on autopilot. TV watching worked out of the box via X11 and the vesa unaccelerated driver; have not tried recording. The onboard Ethernet was recognized and operated well with DHCP or a static address. The kernel whimpers a bit (APIC error), annoying but not critical. (Fixable for the so-inclined with noapic on the append= line in lilo.) My hda is pata; the kernel seems to recognize the (unused) sata ports with no problems (YMMV).
Caveat: for the so inclined (pineapple), playing DVD drops frames at 1024x768 (vesa driver); can be fixed with the accelerated nvidia drivers for the so inclined.
I will continue this on tier 2 shortly in more detail with regard to the installation (a must in my case) of a WiFi PCI card, the rt2500-based (802.11g) Foxconn. Got it to work; that was not nearly as simple, but in most cases not nearly as necessary either.
