Post subject:  (BACKEND) Abit BP6, 256MB, ATI 128MB, Dual celeron 400mhz

Here is my backend setup for (RECORING ONLY)

Abit BP6 motherboard
Hauppage PVR-250 with grey remote
3com 905c 10/100 nic
512MB kingston
ATI sapphire 128mb 8x AGP
300GB Hard drive (for now)
Actisys IR-200L serial

Everything works great with KNOPPMYTH and I dont need to configure anything hardware wise. Only thing that has given me some trouble is the remote and the Ir-blaster but thats a lack of knowledge rather then linux issues. I cant stress the recording only part enough. Although you can watch live tv and recording on the box itself it isnt fast enough for my liking. You can stream it to any windows box or frontend once the recording is done and it works perfect..

Thanks for the post Andy, I just found my backend :) I have an old BP6 laying around with dual 433's.
Always good to meet another BP6'er.

Gotta love ebay.. Im actually getting another machine for slave backend using an ASUS P2B mobo another classic. I use zoom player on windows and have the drive shared using samba on the backend and just open the nuv file in the tv folder and all is well even if its recording. Theres an easier way also through mythweb and click the jpeg under the recorded programs tab and then it will open an external player on your windows box with sound.

Ah, memories... I loved my BP6 until I started getting constant DMA error messages...

Those were the days.

Yes it is I have 6 BP6's 366 overclocked to 550 from a cluster I put together years ago. Maybe I should put them to good use. :)

I just remembered, on my way to work, that the BP6 has the integrated highpoint raid controller. Does that work with KnoppMyth? It was crap under Win95 and I gave up on it shortly afterwards.

Ive read forums about it and they've told me to stay the heck away from the HPT366 slots so for now I have. My plans for the near future now that everything is working is to put a promise ultra133TX2 card in the machine with a 250gig hard drive. I'll post later on how it goes.

Ive also added an ir blaster bought from irblaster.info. Works perfectly with the right script and lircd configuration. I just posted my frontend install that also works well.

I use my BP6 (dual cel 500's) as a file server, but couldnt get it to recognise any drive greater than 127GB., using 4x80GB on a software raid, and works fine.

I have a 300gig in there and it works great. Linux will see the 300G but windows and the bios wont.

cool looks like my file servers heading for a rebuild and a 200 gb harddrive that just happens to lying around.
I assume from the previous posts your drives not connected to the hpt controller.
Anyone know if a sunix ide ata 100 card works under myth and a BP6
