# Video type: SDTV
# Type of system: combined front- and back-end
# Noise level: I can barely hear it from 5 feet away

# CASE: Tranquil T2e (fanless) with Tranquil T2e Dual Riser and 2 Extenders
# PSU: Morex Silent 80W PSU
# MOTHERBOARD: Via Epia SP 13000 LVDS
# CPU: Via C7 1.33GHz
# RAM: 512Mb
# CPU HEATSINK: Comes with Tranquil T2e
# NORTHBRIDGE HEATSINK: Comes with Tranquil T2e
# CD/DVD-RW: Panasonic UJ845 Dual Layer DVD-RW
# HDD: Maxtor 6L300R0 Diamondmax 10 300GB (quite noisy)
# GRAPHICS CARD: Integrated on SP13000
# SOUNDCARD: Integrated on SP13000
# TUNER CARD: 2x Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T
# REMOTE CONTROL: Hauppauge "dog bone" remote

Note: You have to remove the CPU fan to use with the Tranquil T2e case which voids your warranty. This case has a huge heatsink down one side

I originally installed R5C7 then upgraded to R5D1. This involved having to upgrade XFree86 and installing the Unichrome Pro drivers. I could not get S Video out working, so I used a VGA connector as my TV has a VGA port. I also had trouble scanning for channels, and had to manually enter the transports. I don't know if this is a problem with MythTV 0.20 anymore, but a search of the Internet should reveal the correct transports.

After I upgraded to R5E50, I did not have to install any drivers. However, I did find that my xorg.conf file was empty so X did not start after the reboot from the auto upgrade. I don't know if this will also happen from a fresh install.

To rectify this, log on using the root account and enter:

Code:
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Enter the following:

Restart lirc:
Code:
/etc/init.d/lirc restart

Go to Setup -> Media Settings -> Archive Files Settings
Set MythArchive working directory to /myth/archive
Set DVD drive to /dev/cdrom

That's it I think. Just the usual customisation to do, but lots of info on that in the forums.

Wonderful,
Thank you for taking the time to do this, it has helped me a lot!

the only change I had to make was:

Code:
/etc/init.d/lirc restart
(no "d" at the end of lircd)

Regards

nzcarrick.

However, I did find that my xorg.conf file was empty so X did not start after the reboot from the auto upgrade. I don't know if this will also happen from a fresh install.

To rectify this...

This does happen from a fresh install. I happen to have found the hidden file /etc/X11/.xorg.conf that can be used as a base file to start with.
