# Video type: SDTV/PAL # Type of system: combined front- and back-end # Noise level: Noisy, but located ten meters away in technical room # CASE: Unbranded # PSU: Unbranded 300W # MOTHERBOARD: MSI KT333 (VIA KT3 chipset) # CPU: AMD Athlon 2000+ # RAM: 512 MB # CPU HEATSINK: Copper-based, with single fan # CD/DVD-RW: LiteOn DVD±RW 16x DW1650-488C # HDD: 80GB Seagate and 8 GB Seagate # GRAPHICS CARD: Ati Radeon 8500 & Grand Hand View II for TV out # SOUNDCARD: Onboard # TUNER CARD: 2 X Technotrend Budget T1500 # REMOTE CONTROL: Technotrend Silver remote, using homebrew receiver There were three main issues: 1. TV Out was solved by external VGA to TV converter. I spent 20+ hours on the ATI TV out never getting it to work. 2. Soundcard issue causing NVP: Prebuffering pauses which caused watching TV to twitch. Repaired by directing MPEG-2 audio directly to SPDIF and using aggressive setting. 3. Remote control was not listed, downloaded the Technotrend file from Lirc site. Also had to manually edit the ~/.mythtv/lircrc-file to match the technotrend setup file. Hardware was not the problem, the EPG was. I got it working though... |
