The TV-Out chip on the 800 can only do 640x480 and 800x600... so once I got everything installed and configured, I edited all other modelines out of etc/X11/XF86Config

how come the installer has a TV-Out option for use during install, but not option for automatically configuring as above?

Regardless what your chipset is, having any res over 800x600 doesn't help with TV-Out...

that option on the installer has nothing to do with setting up the Xfree resolutions, all it does is keep it at 8x6 for the console part of the install, so you can actually complete the install with tvout as your only output. Some video cards can do this without the switch, but some cannot.

Hello,
I have an EPIA 800 and succeed to install and enjoy MythTV on a monitor.
Now I want to have it on my TV using the SVIDEO output of the EPIA.

So I reinstalled everything from scratch and choose 'tv' in the splash menu.

All went well until I reboot then nothing but a grey screen.

Tried to modify my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file but dont know what to change.

There is a lot of stuff in the forum but concerning PVRx50 and NVidia. Couldn't find more generic fixes.

Can someone help me and , by the way, explain how all this TV out stuff works ? At the startup, which config files are used ? Why is there XF86Config-4 AND XF86Config ?

Thanks for all kind of help

Perhaps I'm missing something... Why is this in Tier 2?
