Details of system: Got an old Compaq Deskpro cheap first and added stuff to it. mythtv@mythtv:~$ cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 8 model name : Pentium III (Coppermine) stepping : 6 cpu MHz : 864.111 cache size : 256 KB physical id : 0 siblings : 1 fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr sse bogomips : 1712.12 mythtv@mythtv:~$ free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 247 194 52 0 2 56 -/+ buffers/cache: 134 112 Swap: 941 0 941 mythtv@mythtv:~$ lspci -v|grep MPEG 0000:02:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) 0000:02:0a.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) mythtv@mythtv:~$ ivtvctl -V driver info: version = 0x00000400 (0.4.0) comment = (tagged release) cardnr = 0 hw_flags = 9e mythtv@mythtv:~$ ivtvctl -d/dev/video0|grep PVR mythtv@mythtv:~$ ivtvctl -d /dev/video0 -a|grep PVR Card type : WinTV PVR 350 mythtv@mythtv:~$ ivtvctl -d /dev/video1 -a|grep PVR Card type : WinTV PVR 150 mythtv@mythtv:~$ cat /etc/KnoppMyth-version R5 Alpha 16 mythtv@mythtv:~$ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda1 3171520 1639196 1371676 55% / /dev/hda3 8409172 24 8409148 1% /cache /dev/hda4 104621276 16058716 88562560 16% /myth mythtv@mythtv:~$ Anywho, I connected the DIN connector of the pvr350 to an RF modulator (composite ports) and from there to the coax in my tv. tv-out worked with the older ivtv 0.3.3u drivers but NOT with the 0.4 tarball. I had to upgrade the drivers to 0.4 (except the ivtvdev driver for the tv-out, for which I'm using 0.3.3) and also the firmware in order to get it to work with both the PVR150 & 350. HAd to manually config the XFree86Config-4 as per the Knoppmythwiki instructions. No major hiccups there. Wierdness with the remote. It was the Hauppauge Silver remote (which requires patching and recompiling lirc) & I thought it was the default grey remote that they ship with the pvr350 which is supposed to work off the box in Knoppmyth. Frankly I can't tell the difference between the 2. Anywho I patched and recompiled lirc as per Knoppmythwiki (The wiki was extremely helpful no doubt abt that). I had to tweak the lircrc key-bindings. Mplayer doesn't work with the tv-out, but xine works fine (had to add xine keybindings in lirc, but pinched the file off of a poster in this fine forum). Needs that verboten library if you wanna play commercial dvds tho Sound works fine thru the tv-out when playing live TV. Again, followed knoppmythwiki for setting aumix. Can't get to pipe other sound (cd's, xine videos, dvd's etc) thru tv-out, but pipes thru soundcard. Workaround: My roommate had speakers to spare Got some url's I read: http://www.bb-zone.com/misc/LinuxPVR/#HARDWARE http://www.mythtv.org/modules.php?name=MythInstall http://www.mysettopbox.tv/ http://knoppmythwiki.org/ http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4609& http://www.lirc.org/html/configure.html http://www.mythtvtalk.com/ http://pvrhw.goldfish.org/tiki-view_articles.php http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/ http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/m ... 3578#23578 http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Ivtvctl http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto |
