works great for watching TV and playing divx's. I may drop this to tier2 as with editing I'm finding may improvements, using the mpeg decoder, better video drivers, a tunned kernel ect. When it all works I'll post how-to s. For DVD playback I would recomend turning on dma (hdparm -d 1 /dev/hd?) to any dvd drive and getting the optimised for castle rock dvd player https://sourceforge.net/projects/viaexp/ If you are in the UK I would also recomend http://www.linitx.com their service and support are increadable. The first board I received had an obscure fault, gcc failed with SEG faults at random intervals. They shipped me a second board and 512MB memory stick on next day post for me to test if it was a hardware fault, which it was. Also if you are in UK some editing is required, but that is not because of the hardware. |

I use the same mobo with a PVR-350. Apart from the PVR-350 I sourced everything from LintITX - they're the best company I have bought anything from online. They actually seem to care.... |

Post subject: | video driver change, improves live tv |
The following changes make viewing at 480x480 live tv work at about 60% cpu. It also helps with non-accelerated dvd playback su [password] cd /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/ wget http://www.shipmail.org/7Ethomas/via/xf ... _drv.o.bz2 bzip2 -d via_drv.o.bz2 cd /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/ wget http://www.shipmail.org/%7Ethomas/via/d ... dri.so.bz2 bzip2 -d via_dri.o.bz2 vi /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 #change in the device section Driver "via" Option "DPMS" #open GL interface libs apt-get install libglut3 |

Post subject: | Looking to setup a myth TV box |
I was interested in your post, since I was considering using an EPIA MS10000 since this is fanless with 1GHz speed. Do you use the fanless version, if so, does the case need a fan to remove the heat, or can I go for a totally fanless solution? I want to put the whole set up underneath the TV where the current video recorder is, so quiet operation is required. I intend to partner the mobo with a PVR350. Any comments would be appreciated. Algenon. |

Why spend the extra money a 350 with a 150 or 250 would work? The only reason someone would get a 350 (IMO) is if there didn't have enough horsepower to decode MPEG2. |

True. For me the PVR350 output looks much crisper than the onboard svideo out though. |

Post subject: | Poor TV output from EPIA M |
Ruleke, I have just managed to get my myth box working reasonably well, and I am using the TV out from the EPIA mother board. The picture quality is not that good and since I have a PVR350 installed I wonder if you know how to get it working? Do I need to change the XF86config-4 file? Regards, Alan. |

You need to loqd the ivtv-fb driver module, use the ivtvdriver X modules (http://dl.ivtvdriver.org/xdriver/0.10.6/) and make the needed changes in the XF86config-4 (or xorg config) file. Detailed instructions can be found at http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-index.php |
